What will we do without chocolate?
Climate change is decimating the cocoa crop in key growing regions, particularly West Africa, jeopardizing the livelihoods of local farmers, driving up prices for chocolate’s main raw material, and potentially threatening the chocolate business existentially.
Major suppliers are supporting sustainability efforts in the hopes of staving off disaster. They are also working feverishly on perfecting lab-own chocolate as their plan B—with some success. [Read more.]
